Welcome to my weekly update for January 11, 2026!
My husband finished up his work contract in Georgia just before Christmas so we spent two weeks with our families. He started his next work assignment this week just north of Tampa. We are enjoying these Florida temperatures! North Georgia has fairly mild winters compared to most of the country but it was a bit too cold for our tastes in our RV. We’ve just been settling in so I don’t have any pictures to share yet.

I might finish Bacardi this week! Maybe? It’s good and I’m learning a lot about Cuba but I mostly read it at bedtime so I don’t make much progress before I fall asleep. If I do finish it, I’ll be looking for a nonficton book soon.

I’m from the mountains of North Carolina, so north Georgia felt a lot like home. I’m glad we haven’t been there this week. They got so much ice!

If you liked the first one you’ll enjoy the subsequent ones too, at least as far as I’ve gotten. They’re pretty consistent.

I can barely remember the sun at this point. Lol. Have you ever had to stay in the north during winter in your RV? Is it difficult?

We’ve always headed south for the winter in our RV. People do stay in their RVs in the north but it takes a lot of extra preparation that we aren’t willing to do, like enclosing the area underneath the camper so that pipes and tanks don’t freeze and getting huge propane tanks to hook up. You wouldn’t believe how much propane our furnace burns when we use it. And a lot of northern campgrounds close for the winter so that they don’t have to worry about their own waterlines freezing. It’s too much work for a season we don’t enjoy anyway 😀
The warm temperatures of Florida sound pretty good for this time of year! I hope you enjoy yourselves with this latest adventure.

I envy you being able to move every few months to a new, delightful location. I’ve never even been to Florida! I hope you will share with us some of the wonderful things you see there.
