Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl invited us to share ten posts about ourselves this week. I usually share some personal details in my Weekly Update posts so if you follow those, you know quite a bit about me. But here are some dedicated posts about me. Back to Blogging!

Soooo.... Hi? IntrovertedJen here. It's been a while, hasn't it? Almost four years to be exact. I can't believe it! I blogged as The Introverted Reader from 2009 - 2016 but I lost that domain in 2017. That's a long story about a lack of communication on my hosting company's part and my own oversight, but anyway. It had been over six months since my last post and life was busy so I didn't worry about it. In 2015, my department essentially down-sized from two full-timers and a part-timer to just me. I stepped up and handled the load. In fact, I grew it. But by the time I got home at the end of the day, there was nothing left. All I wanted to do was veg out in front of the TV. Traveling and a New Career My husband, Luis, and I have always loved traveling. The bug got serious when we went to Hawaii on our honeymoon in 2004 and then St. John in the US Virgin Islands for our one-year anniversary. We were hooked. My family teased us about our "honeymoon" every year because we usually take our "big trip" around our anniversary in October. My husband took a new job in 2015. He had been working as a paramedic, but that's a career with a lot of burnout and he was so over it. He transferred into the hospital's cardiac cath lab and fell in love. He's always enjoyed cardiology but when he was working side-by-side with physicians to "fix" a heart attack, he was in his element. Travel Job? And then the hospital hired traveling cath lab techs. And our eyes were opened. We met when we both worked in and around the hospital, so we knew that travel nurses existed. We thought it…

I’ve Been Interviewed!

Carina at Reading Through Life has a weekly feature called Reading Roots. Here's how she describes it: Posted weekly on Tuesdays, Reading Roots features a variety of book bloggers talking about their early reading influences and experiences, letting us catch a glimpse of the “roots” that each person has built upon in forming their identity as “a reader”. Carina was kind enough to interview me, and my answers have been posted today! If you're curious about what made The Introvert a Reader, head on over and see what I had to say! I have an affiliate relationship with Malaprop's, my local independent bookstore located in downtown Asheville, NC; and Better World Books. I will receive a small commission at no cost to you if you purchase books through links on my site.

Review Policy Change

I have been mulling this over for a while and, much as part of me hates to do it, I have decided not to accept any more books for review. At least for a while. I am too moody a reader to do well with deadlines, and if I don't give myself a deadline, I know that some review books will not get read for years. That's not fair to the authors/publishers/publicists who send them to me. I might change my mind at some point, but right now, I think the best thing for me, and for the books, is if I just don't accept any books for review. Review books already in my possession or on their way to me (I'm pretty sure there aren't any) will be read and reviewed per my old review policy. Well, I'm a little behind, so I might be a little late, but I am working on my fairly small pile and they will get read and reviewed as soon as I can possibly get to them. I want blogging to be fun, and it is, but having looming deadlines to get books read and reviewed is starting to make it feel like work. I will still be reviewing the books I'm reading, whether they're my own books, or from the library, or borrowed from friends and family, so this does not mean that my blog will change. If I change my mind, I will write another post. Thank you for your understanding.
