Welcome to my weekly update for June 28, 2026! My husband was on call for emergencies at the hospital all last weekend so we didn’t do anything. It was nice for me to have a weekend to relax though. I like to share some of our pictures with you though so there are a couple below. The sunset [...]
Welcome to my weekly update for June 21, 2026! My husband had a long weekend off work last weekend so we decided to visit Isle Royale National Park (Pronounced like plain old royal; nothing fancy here). It’s one of the least visited national parks in the lower 48 states because it’s so [...]
I love that Ms. Swaby has taken the time to write mini biographies of women in the sciences whose accomplishments are so often overlooked. They made significant discoveries. I’d heard of some; others were completely new to me. I’m glad to have some gaps in my knowledge filled in. I was often [...]
Welcome to my weekly update for June 7, 2026! Hello again! My husband and I wrapped up his time working in Florida and moved on to his next work assignment at the hospital in Marquette, Michigan, on the Upper Peninsula, a couple of weeks ago. We’ve been to very few of the states surrounding the [...]
Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl invited us to share 10 book covers with unique typography this week. I thought this was an interesting topic. Very often the font on book covers is a very readable but boring sans serif font. I had fun looking for designs that broke the mold.
Welcome to my weekly update for February 1, 2026! If you’d like to contact your US representatives about anything, the 5 Calls app is a great place to start. I hate making calls, especially about politics, but the situation with ICE is too scary to ignore. I stopped calling for quite a while [...]
Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl invited us to share the “top 10 bookish discoveries I made in 2025.” I haven’t participated in a Top Ten Tuesday in quite a while. I sometimes get bogged down in going through all my read books to curate the perfect list so these posts can take me forever to write. But [...]
Welcome to my weekly update for January 25, 2026! I hope all of you in the path of this winter storm are warm and safe. The Appalachians broke up the storm in weird ways in North Carolina and luckily my family ended up mostly getting rain instead of the devastating ice that was in the forecast. I [...]
4 Stars. My husband is a travel nurse who largely grew up in Miami and in winter months we often find ourselves back in Florida as he works at different hospitals around the state. Even before we started traveling, we visited my in-laws, who live in Naples now, at least once a year. Needless to say [...]
I’m classifying this as a cozy mystery simply because the murder and investigation fit that genre. But it’s way darker than I expected. The four main characters have some very troubling secrets in their pasts. It was nice to watch them share their stories and start to heal together though. I didn’t [...]
