Buckling Bookshelves is hosting the Banned Books Challenge again this year. I always try to read about 5 books to review for Banned Books Week anyway, so I’m signing up again. Having this challenge in mind last year helped me space my reading out instead of cramming it all into September like I usually do. I’m signing up at the Trouble-Maker level, 3-5 books. I’ll track my progress here. Since The Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison was banned for about a week in a county here in North Carolina a few months ago, I’ll definitely be reading that one. Visit the sign-up page for more ideas for banned books. The lists will probably surprise you. Thanks to Christine for hosting again!

  1. The Witches by Roald Dahl
  2. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz
  3. The Awakening by Kate Chopin
  4. Fun Home by Alison Bechdel
  5. Blubber by Judy Blume
  6. In the Night Kitchen by Maurice Sendak

I have an affiliate relationship with Malaprop’s, my local independent bookstore located in beautiful downtown Asheville, NC; and Better World Books. I will receive a small commission at no cost to you if you purchase books through links on my site. My opinions are completely my own.
