Weekly Update at Introverted Reader

Welcome to my weekly update for December 29, 2024!

I hope everyone who celebrates had a wonderful holiday week! My husband had to work too close to the holiday for us to fly out to visit any family so we had a nice, quiet day at home in our RV. He made a crème brûlée French toast casserole for breakfast that was delicious!

Space is always at a premium in our RV so I didn’t get many bookish things but I did receive The Book Lover’s Journal: My Personal Reading Record and a copy of the latest Bookmarks magazine.

    Up Next:

I’ll be posting my top ten books of 2024 on Tuesday and I have reviews for The Dutch House by Ann Patchett and Of Time and Turtles by Sy Montgomery scheduled on Thursday and Friday. I may post an in-depth 2024 reading recap if I have time.

On the reading front, I have a couple of graphic novel memoirs by John Lewis to read and I need to choose an audiobook for myself (My husband and I are listening to Noir together on road trips).

    1. That reading journal looks very nice. Must look it up. Your Christmas sounds lovely and quiet, hope your New Year is the same! Happy New Year.

    2. Your quiet Christmas celebration sounds nice! We stayed home and hosted small family gatherings for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so we didn’t have to travel until the day after Christmas. It was a lot of cooking and cleaning, but there was also time to spend laughing and chatting with family we don’t get to see that often.
I haven’t read any of your books except The Dutch House and the first Dash & Lily.
I hadn’t heard of Bookmark before, either!

      1. Small family gatherings sound lovely for Christmas. I’m surprised how many people haven’t heard of Bookmarks! My husband has bought a copy for every Christmas for quite a while. I think he gets it at Barnes & Noble.

    3. I’m a big Anne Patchett fan, and liked The Dutch House, so I hope you are enjoying it. I agree with all the comments about creme brulee French Toast casserole. What a great idea!
      Have a great New Year…mae at maefood.blogspot.com

    4. I really enjoy Christopher Moore’s books. I hope you enjoy Noir. We visited my family in North Georgia for Christmas. We stayed in Blairsville, GA which is about 2 hours South of Asheville. We had amazing weather, sunny and in the mid fifties.

    5. Yum! A crème brûlée French toast casserole sounds heavenly! Good for you guys to use your rv oven. I think we’ve only used ours once! It’s a perfect spot to store my pots, though. 🙂 Looking forward to your year-end wrap up!

      1. I hear a lot of people use their RV oven as cookware storage 🙂 We do use the regular oven but our microwave is also a convection oven. It’s not high quality but we’ve been using it more lately since it heats more evenly.

    6. I used to love Bookmarks magazine. My subscription must have lapsed during our recent moves and I thought they’d stopped publishing it. I’ll look for the latest issue next time I’m at B&N… so glad to know it’s still around! A crème brûlée French toast casserole sounds like a wonderful treat. Will look forward to your best books of the year post.

    7. Oh, I love this time of year when we all start posting our favorite books of the year! I always get good ideas from all our fellow bloggers. I have never heard of Bookmarks magazine, I’ll have to go check it out.

Thank you for reminding me of the map book, I need to get a copy as I love geography

    8. Space is why I primarily read and listen in digital formats. I’d love to hear more about RV life if you ever included some info on that or how you chose it and what kind of RV and equipment you use/have. Happy Rdading!

    9. A crème brûlée French toast casserole sounds amazing! Lovely gifts. I have no heard of the magazine. I’m going to look into it.

Pluto!: Not a Planet? Not a Problem! seems like it would be fun to read WTH the grandkids.
