Welcome to my weekly update for April 23, 2023!
We went to The Flower Fields in Carlsbad, CA this week. I visited while my husband attended a work conference in 2018. It was so spectacular, I made him go back to experience it with me this year. It was even better than I remembered! These gardens include 55 acres of ranunculus flowers in every conceivable color. The fields are planted on a hillside, so when you climb to the top then turn and look behind you, you can see the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean beyond the flowers. It’s truly a sight to behold.

- There are lots of other fun displays when you enter the garden. My husband and I liked this grouping of flower pots shaped like heads with different flowers growing out of the top.

I took a break from audiobooks this week to catch up on some of my favorite podcasts. I’ll probably download a fairly short one soon. My sister arrives on Friday for a weeklong visit (Yay!) so I’ll be getting our little space spruced up for her. I’m planning to skip my update next week since I won’t be around to visit other blogs, but I might schedule a couple of reviews if I have time.
What did your week look like?

Wonderful flower photos; it just makes me happy to see them.
LOL, I should probably take a break from audiobooks to listen to podcasts, too. Or get better about remembering to listen while doing other things (like housework). The flower pics look great!
I swing wildly between all audiobooks or all podcast. I can’t seem to find a happy medium. Maybe I need to designate one as morning listening and the other as afternoon listening!
Wow, I have friends in Carlsbad. I might need to visit them next spring!

The Flower Fields are just breathtaking! I’d love to see them one day.
Just read your review of Atlas of the Invisible. From there I clicked over to North American Maps for Curious Minds… and ended up ordering myself a copy. That looks like it’s right up my alley…I’m a bit of a map nerd, too!
The flowers are gorgeous! Sounds like a good week. Enjoy your weekend!
That looks beautiful with the PAcific in the background. Have a wonderful visit!
Ranunculus are one of my all-time favorite flowers! I went to the website and see that I can order 2 1/2 dozen for $69. I think I’ll order a bunch for my mom for her 90th birthday. She used to live in Vista, as did we.
Enjoy your sister’s visit!
Thank you for the lovely pics – those flowers look like jewels shining in the sunshine… How wonderful. Have a great week, Jen:).

Enjoy your time with your sister, Jen!
I picked up three of Rick Riordan Recommends books at the conference. I hope I get to try them soon.
I would never want to leave that field of flowers. How beautiful!!!!

The flowers do look stunning, thanks for sharing your photo’s.
Wishing you a great reading week
Beautiful flowers. and to think they cover an entire hillside. I’ve seen poppies growing wild in California too this spring.
