Weekly Update at Introverted Reader

Welcome to my weekly update for December 14, 2015!

I’ve had a busy couple of weeks. My husband and I took off one Friday to drive to a choose-and-cut farm to get our Christmas tree. We’ve been going to the same place for most of the 14 years we’ve been together. We always have a good time wandering around on the hillsides, looking for the perfect compromise between my taste for trees that are as fat as they are tall and his taste for what I call Charlie Brown Christmas trees. I’m slowly winning him over to my way of seeing things; our tree this year is the fattest yet!

I’ve also had some holiday festivities at work and I’ve been spending time with my sister and some friends. I went to see Mockingjay Part 2 yesterday. Have any of you seen it? What did you think? I liked it but I think these last two movies could have been one. I didn’t realize my friend hadn’t seen the last one and the only thing that confused her was Peeta’s story line. I filled her in on that in a sentence or two.

My friend from high school has published another 100-word story on Speck Lit: “Social Anxiety.” Go check it out. We only think we’re uncomfortable in social situations.

  2. We have a fake tree now, but I have fond memories of going out with my Dad as a kid and choosing a real tree. Have a great week 🙂

  3. Too funny about the tree and your hubby. When the kids were young we did that. They took us out a sleigh and had hot cocoa and Santa Claus.

  4. Ooh, cutting your own tree is a wonderful tradition…I haven't done that in years!

Enjoy your books…I have First Frost on my list….thanks for sharing.

  5. I love choosing trees together also. The guy this year said he hasn't seen a man with more interest, lol, he went for a big tree, oh my. We had to buy a bigger stand. All in the holiday fun.

  6. Excellent review of In the Kingdom of Ice! I've got that on my audio wish list and hope to listen soon.

I'm partial to fatter Christmas trees, too, and choosing just the right one is so much fun! Sometimes it takes forever for all of us to agree…

  7. Nice to know you have your fattest Christmas tree ever – enjoy decorating. Loved First Frost, have come to enjoy anything she writes really.

  8. Shopping for trees is fun, we always did that growing up although I have an artifical tree now. I like it when there's been a little snow, it just feels Christmasy. 🙂

Mockingjay 2 I haven't seen yet, I was hoping to before Star Wars came out but doesn't look like that's happening. I already missed the Peanuts movie… sigh. Oh well… maybe over the holidays.

Have a great week! I'll have to go check out that story. 🙂
