Shelleyrae at Book’d Out is hosting the Eclectic Reader Challenge again for 2015. The goal is to read 12 books across a variety of genres and expose ourselves to some books we might not have found otherwise. The categories this year are

  1. A book about books (fiction or nonfiction)
  2. Serial killer thriller
  3. Paranormal romance
  4. A novel set on an island
  5. Investigative journalism (non fiction)
  6. Disaster fiction
  7. Steampunk sci fi
  8. Any book shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize
  9. Psychology (non fiction)
  10. Immigrant Experience fiction
  11. YA historical fiction
  12. A debut author in 2016

Most of these will be at least a little familiar to me. Psychology, investigative journalism, and the Man Booker prize will be outside my comfort zone.

I’ll track my progress here. For more details visit Book’d Out. Thanks to Shelleyrae for hosting again!

I’m also signing up again for the European Reading Challenge hosted at Rose City Reader. I always struggle with this one more than I expect. I hit the same few countries frequently in my reading.

THE LIST: Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Macedonia, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and Vatican City.

I’m signing up at the Honeymooner level–4 books read. I’ll track my progress here.

I’m signing up for the Banned Books Challenge hosted at Buckling Bookshelves again as well. I usually do well with this one but I bombed in 2015. I’m hoping to redeem myself this year!

I’m signing up at the Trouble-Maker level–3-5 books read. I’ll track my progress here.

I’m signing up for the Craving for Cozies challenge hosted at Escape with Dollycas into a Good Book as well. I enjoy reading cozy mysteries but somehow never seem to pick them up lately. Hopefully this challenge will help me change that.

I’m signing up at the Famished level–1-10 books read. I’ll track my progress here.

I’m signing up for the Mount TBR (To Be Read) challenge hosted at My Reader’s Block. It’s been a while since I signed up for any version of this challenge but my shelves are overflowing and I need a push to get my books read and thinned out.

I’m signing up at the Mount Blanc level–24 books read. I’ll track my progress here.

I have an affiliate relationship with Malaprop’s, my local independent bookstore located in beautiful downtown Asheville, NC; and Better World Books. I will receive a small commission at no cost to you if you purchase books through links on my site. My opinions are completely my own.
