Readers’ Workouts

My sign up post for the Banned Books Reading Challenge

Read:

I didn’t finish anything. They’re all big books!

Currently Reading:

Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak, translated by Max Hayward and Manya Harari

Cinder by Marissa Meyer, read by Rebecca Soler

From Notting Hill With Love…Actually by Ali McNamara (Starts off so cute, I just went out and bought a copy for my mom for her birthday)

Don’t Know Much About Mythology by Kenneth C. Davis

Up Next:

I do believe that I will finally finish Don’t Know Much About Mythology this week. It’s been interesting enough to keep reading, but it has literally taken me four months to read it. Wow. I have The Wild Trees: A Story of Passion and Daring by Richard Preston lined up for my next nonfiction pick.

What are you reading this week?

  1. I've been working on Emma for quite awhile now too and I'm annoyed with myself over it. I always have a hard time balancing the books I'm reading for fun versus the ones I'm reading for reviews.

  2. I'm working my way through Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks this week and I've got to tell you that I'm bored out of my skull. I find the book so dull and repetitive that it's absurd. It's questionable whether or not I'll finish it at all, but given that I purchased it for my Kindle I'll probably try to make my way through the rest of it. I just wish I'd made a better choice this time around. But it should be interesting to compare the book to the movie, right?

I loved seeing that you'd done a review of The Thirteenth Tale. It's one of my personal favorites and such a great novel. I recently recommended it to my mother and will probably read it again soon. It's on a special shelf, one of the few hardcovers I still own now that I have my Kindle!

  3. I dislike books that take four months to read. Kinda like Wolf Hall. I should just move it elsewhere in the house so it stops mocking me. And that's a pretty good endorsement for Notting Hill book!
    Here was my memes post.

  4. I was just in Notting Hill two weeks ago – I might want to read this one.

All these titles are new to me, something I love about this meme.

    Have a wonderful week!

  5. I think From Notting Hill with Love…Actually sounds very tempting!

I also loved Dr. Zhivago…years ago. Wonder what I'd think now?

Have a great week…and here's MY MONDAY MEMES POST

  6. I really liked Cinder and haven't heard of From Notting Hill with Love, but I'm going to check it out. It sounds really interesting!
    Here's what I'm reading

  7. I would love to read Doctor Zhivago. I have never tackled this one. I look forward to reading your thoughts on it. Have a great week!
    Happy Reading!

  8. I really liked Cinder. I'm even going to re-read it when Scarlet comes out. I'm participating in my first It's Monday. Happy Reading 🙂

  9. It is! The main character is hooked on romantic comedies. My mom loves them, so I just had to buy it for her.

  10. The audio of Cinder is on my wishlist.

I finished four books last week. Please come see what they were.

  11. I hope you are enjoying Cinder! I am looking forward to the sequel.

I know what you mean about big books. I kind of had to put Les Miserables on the backburner so I could read my book discussion books and review books.

I hope you have a great week!

  12. Omg, is From Notting Hill with Love…Actually referencing the movie Love Actually!? That is my favorite movie of all time. I will have to read that book ASAP! Have a great week. 🙂
