Top Ten Tuesday

Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl invited us to share ten authors I haven’t read yet, a topic suggested by Deanna at A Novel Glimpse. I’m slowly weeding out my GoodReads TBR so this topic is fresh in my mind. The problem is narrowing the list down to ten!

Angie ThomasThe Hate U Give has been on my radar since it started frequently making banned books lists. I had the opportunity to see Ms. Thomas speak at Yallfest and loved what she had to say.

Laurie Frankel–After I read and loved Melissa (formerly published as George) by Alex Gino, a friend on Facebook recommended that I read This Is How It Always Is.

Meg Medina–I don’t remember why this exact book is on my TBR, but I was aware of this author after reading an interview with her in You Can’t Say That!, edited by Leonard S. Marcus

John Lewis–I have at least three books by Congressman John Lewis on my TBR so it’s high time that I finally start reading this remarkable man’s story.

Kate Quinn–Everyone seems to be raving about The Rose Code lately! After reading and enjoying Code Girls by Liza Mundy, this sounds like something right up my alley.

Deanna Raybourn–At least two of Ms. Raybourn’s series are on my TBR. I need to get started.

Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni–A couple of Ms. Divakaruni’s books are also on my TBR.

Brandon Sanderson–I really don’t know how I haven’t read any of Brandon Sanderson’s books. I haven’t been reading as much fantasy lately but I’ve been a devoted fantasy reader all my life. Sanderson has become a heavy hitter in the genre.

N. K. Jemisin–I’ve got a couple of N. K. Jemisin’s books on my TBR too.

Tamsyn Muir–A lot of readers whose opinion I respect love Gideon the Ninth. I want to check it out for myself.

That’s my list! Have you read any of these authors? Which authors did/would you choose? Link up every Tuesday at That Artsy Reader Girl!

  1. I have a ton of those authors on my list as well! N.K. Jemison’s The Fifth Season was really good and I want to read the last two in the trilogy soon. Really enjoyed the Hate U Give as well. I tried Quinn’s Alice Network and couldn’t get into it. Not sure if I just wasn’t in the mood for a historical fiction or what. But I’ve wanted to try another of hers to see.

  2. You have so many amazing authors on this list: Angie Thomas, Kate Quinn, Laurie Frankel, and John Lewis will all make you happy.

  3. I enjoyed reading THUG, though I did have to walk away from it at first.

I’m wanting to read Kate Quinn, as I like reading historical fiction with strong female characters. I’m just worried they won’t live up to the hype.

  4. I love the Mistborn series, which is saying a lot because I’m really not a SFF person. Sanderson’s world-building is amazing, though. I love Raybourn’s Veronica Speedwell series. It’s hilarious. I haven’t read anything else by her, but I really should. Quinn is on my list today as well because her books just sound like my kind of thing. I hope you enjoy all these authors when you get to them.

    Happy TTT!
