Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl invited us to share “ten books from seasonal TBR posts I haven’t read.” I’m such a mood reader, I usually bow out of seasonal TBR (To Be Read) topics but I do have one to look back on.

Lost City Radio by Daniel Alarcón (I read The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende, translated by Magda Bogin, instead)
The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole (I didn’t read a spooky classic in October as I’d planned)
The Dead Zone by Stephen King (My library didn’t have this book but I did read The Mist by Stephen King instead)
I’m shocked that I read 7 of the 10 books I chose. It helps that I found books to meet my reading challenge goals.
Instead of flailing around to find something tangentially related to fill out this post, I’m giving myself permission to stop here.
That’s my list! Have you read any of these? Which books are lingering on your seasonal TBR? Link up every Tuesday at That Artsy Reader Girl!

I have so many TBRs that I can only choose depending on my mood at the time.
3 books is not bad at all! You’ll get to them some day, and if you don’t, that’s okay too. 🙂
Congrats on reading 7 out of your 10 books, especially as a mood reader. 😀 I’ve only participated in two seasonal TBRs, but the second one was for this summer, lol. I’m also a mood reader so I totally get your dilemma.
My TTT
I did the one for this summer too but I didn’t even think about counting it yet.
I hardly ever make those kind of reading challenges. I just kind of shift and go with the flow. The horror season is about to begin in September so I’ll add some TBRs but I don’t feel too bad if I don’t get them in or I find something else that catches my eye. I read the Dead Zone back in high school! I forgot about that. I really liked the movie with Christopher Walken. He elevates anything he’s in. I have a couple classic horrors on my list for this Halloween.
I haven’t even thought about my Halloween list yet, though there are a couple on my Classics Club list that I may try to squeeze in. I do like Christopher Walken but I’m a huge wimp about scary movies!
I haven’t read any of these books, but I love Stephen King and really should try both The Dead Zone and The Mist.
I’m doing really well with my Summer Reading challenge selections, but failing miserably with the Paris in July challenge. I’ve only finished one of those books and have given up on three others. 🙁
The Mist was a quick read. I think it might have been a novella from one of his collections but the library somehow had a standalone ebook. It felt very…Lovecraftian.
My attention span has not been great this summer. I think there’s just too much going on in the news. I finished a couple of serious books but I think I’m going to have to shift toward lighter, shorter fare. Hopefully you’ll find something that works for you soon.
7/10 is pretty good! Lately my season TBR have been full of ARCs and challenge reads making it easier to actually complete most of them.

I only make these posts for TTT, otherwise I wouldn’t bother making a seasonal TBR list. I have a list of books to read right now, but only because I am trying to work toward my challenges and knock out the review books.
When I’m not reviewing ARCs, I’m absolutely a mood reader. Christmas cozies in July? Heck yes! Brooding atmospheric thrillers in the spring? But of course! So I don’t really do much with seasonal TBR piles. That would probably require more organizational skills than I have.
Stop by and see my top ten list!
I have to admit, the list of books I have read from my TBR posts would be much shorter than the list of those I haven’t!
I’ve started reading Stephen King in the last few years and I’m reading The Stand at the moment – not read The Mist or The Dead Zone yet. My TTT post is here: https://wordywitterings.com/2022/07/26/ttt-books-that-have-been-lingering-on-my-tbr-pile-for-far-too-long/
I love making seasonal TBR lists, but I really don’t stick to them at all. This prompt showed me how bad I am at keeping to them. Ha ha.
Happy TTT!

I used to like setting (and sticking to) seasonal TBRs, but in recent years that’s completely flipped and I’ve become a mood reader. It’s really interesting to look at the differences in reading patterns over the past couple of years.
Giving yourself permission to stop when you’re done (instead of forcing the full list of ten) is the best idea! Happy reading,

7 out of 10 is very good if you don’t usually read from a TBR-heck it’s very good if you do ha ha!

That’s a great achievement! I don’t do seasonal TBRs but maybe I might start. I do keep getting distracted though by Blog Tours…
Have a great week!

I’m terrible with TBRs because I’m a mood reader but the Spring 2022 possibility pile that I made was the one I found the most success with because I listed all of the ARCs I needed to read! 😂
You did great in reading from your list!
I haven’t read any of your books, except for The House of Spirits. I’m a ‘mood’ reader, so I was surprised to find that I had actually read some of the books from my TBR posts.
I’m also definitely a mood reader: I do the tbr posts and am distracted by other books within weeks or sometimes days!
These are the books I still haven’t read from previous tbr posts!
I’ve never read King but I liked the movie version of The Mist. I guess I’ve seen a fair amount of his adaptations/
I’m always hit or miss when it comes to reading lists, too.
I find that my desire to read particular books depends on a lot of timing issues. If I don’t read a book soon after I place it on my TBR it will likely get shoved to the side by something else. My TTT list
